Appliance Dimensions Guide
What are standard appliance dimensions?
Standard US appliance widths: refrigerators are 30–36 inches wide (counter-depth: 24–25"), washers and dryers are 27 inches wide (compact: 24"), and dishwashers are 24 inches wide. Heights range from 34" (under-counter) to 70" (fridge).
Knowing standard appliance dimensions is essential for kitchen and laundry planning, doorway clearance during delivery, and vehicle transport. This guide covers the most common major household appliances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will a standard fridge fit through a doorway?
Most standard fridges (30–36" wide with handles) fit through a 36" exterior door. For a 32" interior door, you may need to remove the fridge doors to reduce width by 3–5 inches.
Are all washers and dryers the same width?
Standard full-size washers and dryers are 27" wide. Compact/European models are 24" wide. Stacking kits allow a dryer on top of a front-load washer without changing the footprint.
How do I measure an appliance for delivery?
Measure width at the widest point (including handles and knobs), height from floor to top, and depth including door handles and hoses. Add 1" clearance on each side for installation.
