Enter the chair dimensions and your car measurements to see whether it goes in the trunk, on the back seat, or not at all.
Whether it fits comes down to the measurements most people skip.
Measure the item and the narrowest usable space yourself. Small differences in trim, packaging, hardware, and model configuration can change the result. Check your own measurements before you buy or move.
Verdicts compare the supported item orientations against the measurements shown above. See our methodology

Measure smart
Four numbers decide nearly every fit check. Get these right and the rest follows.
Don't make these
Most “it didn't fit” stories trace back to one of these oversights.
Frequently asked
Often yes, through the rear door rather than the trunk. A standard armchair is about 35 in wide, 35 in deep and 40 in tall. The rear door opening on most cars is 40-46 in wide and 30-35 in tall, so the chair goes in tipped on its side or back. A sedan trunk lid at 17-19 in will not take it.
01A small manual recliner sometimes fits a hatchback or estate with the seats folded. A large power recliner — often 40-42 in wide and 42 in tall with a fixed motor box — does not. Many recliner backs unbolt from the base, which is usually the difference between a yes and a no.
02Usually, once you separate it. Pull the seat and gas lift off the five-star base and you have two pieces, the largest around 26 x 26 x 20 in. Assembled at 45-50 in tall it will not clear a sedan trunk lid, but it will go on a folded back seat.
03Typically two to four in a hatchback with the rear seats folded, stacked seat-to-seat or nested. A standard dining chair is about 18 in wide, 20 in deep and 36 in tall. In a sedan, two on the back seat and sometimes one in the trunk on its side is realistic.
