Reference dimensions are orientation aids, not a verdict. Measure the actual headboard, every opening, and the maneuver space before moving or buying. Check your own measurements before you buy or move.

Measure smart

What to measure.

Four numbers decide nearly every fit check. Get these right and the rest follows.

  1. 01Measure the headboard at its widest, deepest, and tallest rigid points in the condition it will be transported.
  2. 02Measure the door opening and maneuver path at the narrowest usable points, excluding trim, hardware, and obstructions.
  3. 03Measure the approach and landing space required to tilt, rotate, or turn the item.
  4. 04Record removable parts separately and subtract them only after confirming safe removal.
  5. 05Include packaging, blankets, dollies, handles, feet, and other projections that remain during the move.

Don't make these

Common mistakes.

Most “it didn't fit” stories trace back to one of these oversights.

  1. ⚠Using volume or nominal sizes instead of clear dimensions.
  2. ⚠Measuring the destination but not the route into it.
  3. ⚠Assuming a removable part changes fit without measuring the remaining rigid piece.

Frequently asked

Questions we keep getting.

  • Will a headboard fit in this door?

It depends on the exact transported dimensions, the smallest measured constraint, and the supported maneuver. Enter both measurement sets for a computed answer.

    01
  • Should I include packaging?

Yes. Measure the condition that will actually move through the route, including packaging and protective material.

    02
  • Does taking the item apart help?

Only when the resulting rigid pieces are independently measured and the manufacturer permits safe disassembly.
