A compact loveseat (52–56" long) fits in the RAV4 with rear seats folded (73" cargo length). A larger loveseat (58–60") also fits but with less clearance. Load it on its side or back through the liftgate. Remove the legs first to reduce the profile by 4–6 inches.
No — a standard 3-seat couch (84" long) exceeds the RAV4 cargo length (73") by 11 inches. Even with the liftgate open and the couch partially protruding, 11" of overhang from a compact SUV hatch is not safe or practical. Use a pickup truck, cargo van, or rental truck for a full couch.
Remove the legs. Fold all rear seats flat. Tilt the loveseat on its back (cushions facing up) and slide it through the liftgate opening. The loveseat depth (30–35") should clear the 31" hatch height when tilted. Use moving blankets to protect both the loveseat and the RAV4 interior.
