Most sofas are 32–36" deep. With the right tilt, a 30" door works — but 32"+ is ideal. Enter your couch and door dimensions.
Whether it fits depends on measurements most people get wrong.
Sofa depth (32–36") tilted diagonally fits through 28–30" opening. Measure door clear opening, not nominal door size.
Item: Standard sofa: 84"×36"×34" (W×D×H). Depth is the critical door dimension.
Space: 30" door = ~28.5" clear opening. 32" door = ~30.5". 36" door = ~34.5".
Actual clear openings are usually 1–2″ smaller than the labeled size.
Your exact dimensions probably aren't "standard." Small measurement errors cause big problems — 1 inch can be the difference between fitting and getting stuck.
Verdicts are calculated by comparing all 6 item orientations against the space dimensions using verified building code standards. See our methodology

Standard sizes say it works — but your measurements are what matter.
Most standard sofas (32–36" deep) fit through a 30" door when tilted on their side. For sofas deeper than 36", you need a 32"+ door. Oversized sofas (40"+) typically need a 36" entry door.
Stand the sofa on its side so the depth becomes the height. Angle the top forward about 15–20 degrees and walk it through. The diagonal of a 34"×34" sofa profile is about 28" at the right tilt angle.
