A 10×10 room limits you to compact sectionals. See which sizes work, how much walking space remains, and where to place a coffee table.
Whether it fits comes down to the measurements most people skip.
Real openings run about 1 to 2 inches under the labeled size, and a single inch can flip the result. Check your own measurements before you buy or move.

Measure smart
Four numbers decide nearly every fit check. Get these right and the rest follows.
Don't make these
Most “it didn't fit” stories trace back to one of these oversights.
Frequently asked
The maximum practical size is about 100" on the long side and 80" on the short side. This leaves 20" of clearance on the long side and 40" on the short side for walking. Anything larger overwhelms the room.
01Barely. A compact sectional (36" deep) leaves 84" to the opposite wall. A 36" round coffee table with 16" of legroom and 32" of walkway behind it fits — but just. Consider a small side table or ottoman instead.
02In most cases, yes. A standard 84" sofa (36" deep) against one wall leaves much more open floor space than an L-shaped sectional. Add a separate armchair for extra seating without the L-shape bulk.
03Choose a reversible compact sectional (under 100" on the long side), place it in the corner farthest from the door, skip the coffee table in favor of a small side table or nesting tables, and ensure the entry path is at least 36" wide.
