A 10×10 room is the recommended minimum for a queen bed. See clearances, nightstand options, and how much space you have left.
Whether it fits depends on measurements most people get wrong.
Room width (120") minus queen bed width (60") = 60" total side clearance (30" per side)
Item: Queen mattress: 60"×80" (5'×6'8")
Space: 10×10 room: 120"×120" (100 sq ft)
Actual clear openings are usually 1–2″ smaller than the labeled size.
Your exact dimensions probably aren't "standard." Small measurement errors cause big problems — 1 inch can be the difference between fitting and getting stuck.
Verdicts are calculated by comparing all 6 item orientations against the space dimensions using verified building code standards. See our methodology

Yes, 10×10 is considered the recommended minimum room size for a queen bed. You get 30" of clearance on each side (enough for walking and small nightstands) and 40" at the foot. It is comfortable but does not leave room for much additional furniture.
Yes. With 30" per side, you can fit nightstands up to 20" wide and still have 10" of space between the nightstand and the bed. Choose nightstands with drawers rather than doors — drawers are easier to access in tight spaces.
With a queen bed and two nightstands, you have about 40" at the foot of the bed. A narrow dresser (30"×18") fits against the foot wall but not a full 60" dresser. For more storage, consider a tall narrow chest or use under-bed storage.
A full bed (54"×75") gives you 33" of clearance per side — only 3" more than a queen. The bigger difference is length: a full is 5" shorter, giving 45" at the foot vs. 40". If you are under 6 feet tall, either works; if you want maximum floor space, the full is slightly better.
