A full (double) mattress measures 54"x75". See the minimum room size, how much clearance you get, and what furniture fits alongside it.
Whether it fits depends on measurements most people get wrong.
Full mattress 54"x75" in a 9x10 room: 27" side clearance each side, 45" at foot
Item: Full/double mattress: 54"x75" (4'6"x6'3"). Frame adds 2-4" per side.
Space: Minimum room: 9x10 (108"x120", 90 sq ft). Recommended: 10x10 (120"x120", 100 sq ft)
Actual clear openings are usually 1–2″ smaller than the labeled size.
Your exact dimensions probably aren't "standard." Small measurement errors cause big problems — 1 inch can be the difference between fitting and getting stuck.
Verdicts are calculated by comparing all 6 item orientations against the space dimensions using verified building code standards. See our methodology

Standard sizes say it works — but your measurements are what matter.
A 9x10 foot room (108"x120") is the minimum. This gives you 27" of clearance on each side and 45" at the foot. For nightstands on both sides and a dresser, aim for 10x10 or larger.
In rooms under 10x10, a full bed gives you 3" more clearance per side and 5" more at the foot compared to a queen. The difference is modest but can be the margin that makes nightstands workable.
Yes, in a room at least 10x10. Place the bed against one wall and a 48" desk against the opposite wall. You will have about 45" between the bed foot and the desk — enough for a chair with room to push back.
