A regulation ping pong table is 60"x108" (5'x9'). The real space killer is the 5-foot clearance needed at each end for serving and returning. See the true room requirements.
Whether it fits comes down to the measurements most people skip.
Real openings run about 1 to 2 inches under the labeled size, and a single inch can flip the result. Check your own measurements before you buy or move.

Measure smart
Four numbers decide nearly every fit check. Get these right and the rest follows.
Don't make these

Frequently asked
For recreational play, you need at least 14x19 feet (168"x228"). This gives 60" of end clearance on each end of the 108" table and 54" of side clearance on each side of the 60" table. For competitive play, the ITTF recommends a space of at least 14x19 feet as well, with 5 feet of end clearance.
01A standard two-car garage (20x20 feet) has enough floor space, but check ceiling height — many garages are only 8 feet to the bottom of the door tracks, and lob shots need 9-10 feet. Also check for obstructions like garage door openers, shelving, and parked vehicles.
02A fold-up table saves storage space but not playing space. When set up, it needs the same 14x19 feet of clearance. The advantage is you can fold it against a wall when not in use, freeing the room for other purposes.
