Enter your TV screen size and vehicle — the calculator compares the TV box dimensions against your cargo area, opening width, and seat-fold options to tell you if it fits.
Whether it fits depends on measurements most people get wrong.
TV box width vs. vehicle cargo opening width (not just cargo area width)
Item: 43" TV box: ~39" W × 25" H × 6" D. 50" box: ~46" W × 29" H × 6" D. 55" box: ~52" W × 33" H × 7" D. 65" box: ~60" W × 37" H × 8" D. 75" box: ~69" W × 42" H × 8" D. 85" box: ~78" W × 47" H × 9" D
Space: Sedan trunk opening: ~35–42" W. Hatchback opening: ~38–44" W. SUV liftgate: ~40–48" W. Minivan liftgate: ~44–50" W. Pickup bed: ~50–66" W (between wheel wells)
Actual clear openings are usually 1–2″ smaller than the labeled size.
Your exact dimensions probably aren't "standard." Small measurement errors cause big problems — 1 inch can be the difference between fitting and getting stuck.
Verdicts are calculated by comparing all 6 item orientations against the space dimensions using verified building code standards. See our methodology

Standard sizes say it works — but your measurements are what matter.

Standard couch depth, mattress sizes, dresser dimensions, table heights — a complete reference of furniture measurements for moving and space planning.
A 10-foot truck holds about 1 bedroom worth of furniture. Here's exactly what fits — and when you need to size up to a 15 or 20-footer.
From the Ram ProMaster to the Ford Transit, cargo vans range from 230 to 480 cubic feet. Here's how they compare for furniture moving.
A 43" TV box (~39" W × 25" H × 6" D) and 50" TV box (~46" W × 29" H × 6" D) fit easily in most sedan trunks. A 55" TV box (~52" W × 33" H × 7" D) fits in most sedans with rear seats folded — slide it through the trunk pass-through or a rear door. A 65" TV box (~60" W) is too wide for most sedan trunk openings (35–42" wide) but often fits through a rear passenger door angled diagonally. 75" and larger TVs generally do not fit in sedans.
Yes — a 65" TV box (~60" W × 37" H × 8" D) fits in most midsize and full-size SUVs (RAV4, CR-V, Highlander, Tahoe, etc.) with the rear seats folded. The SUV liftgate opening is typically 40–48" wide and 28–36" tall. Load the box upright through the liftgate and secure it against the back of the front seats. Compact SUVs (HR-V, Seltos) have narrower liftgates around 38–40" and may be a tight fit.
A 75" TV box (~69" W × 42" H × 8" D) requires a midsize SUV, minivan, or pickup truck. It fits in vehicles like the Highlander, Pilot, Odyssey, Sienna, or any pickup bed. An 85" TV box (~78" W × 47" H × 9" D) needs a full-size SUV (Tahoe, Suburban, Expedition), minivan, or pickup truck — most midsize SUVs are too narrow. Pickup truck beds are the easiest option for 75"+ TVs.
Transport it upright whenever possible. LCD, OLED, and QLED panels are engineered to bear weight on their edges (that's how they mount on a wall) but not to withstand distributed pressure across the screen face. Laying a TV flat — especially face-down — risks cracking the panel from road vibration and bumps. Stand the box upright and brace it against a flat surface like the back of a seat.
Place the TV box upright with the screen face toward the back of the rear seats (or front passenger seat). Wedge soft items (pillows, blankets, rolled towels) on both sides to prevent sliding. Run a seatbelt or ratchet strap across the box to hold it in place. In a pickup truck, stand the box against the cab wall and secure it with ratchet straps. Never leave a TV unsecured — one hard brake can send it flying.
Hatchbacks have wider rear openings than sedan trunks, making them better for TVs. Most hatchbacks (Golf, Mazda3 hatch, Impreza hatch, Civic hatch) can fit a 55" TV box with the rear seats folded. Some larger hatchbacks can fit a 65" box. Measure the hatch opening width — hatchback openings typically range from 38–44" wide, significantly better than the 35–40" of a sedan trunk lid.
Options: (1) Ask the store about delivery — many retailers offer free or low-cost delivery for large TVs. (2) Rent a cargo van or pickup truck for an hour from U-Haul, Home Depot, or Lowe's ($20–30). (3) Borrow an SUV or minivan. (4) For a sedan, try loading through the rear passenger door instead of the trunk — the opening is often wider and taller.
