Four numbers decide nearly every fit check. Get these right and the rest follows.
- 01The opening width and height of the trunk or liftgate, not just the total volume, since the opening is what an item has to pass through.
- 02The load-floor length behind the rear seats, then again with the seats folded.
- 03The height available under the roofline or parcel shelf, measured at the lowest point.
- 04Your item at its widest point, including feet, handles, and packaging.

How much cargo space does a Prius have?
The Toyota Prius has 20.3 cubic feet of cargo space with seats up and about 50.7 cubic feet with rear seats folded. The cargo floor length extends from 27" to about 65" when seats are down.
01Can I fit a mattress in a Prius?
A twin foam mattress can fit rolled up. A full or queen mattress is too wide (54–60") for the 43" cargo width. Consider a roof rack for foam mattresses or rent a truck for spring mattresses.
02Will IKEA flat-pack furniture fit in a Prius?
Most IKEA flat-pack boxes fit with rear seats folded. The BILLY bookcase box (81" long) fits diagonally. PAX wardrobe boxes may be too wide; check individual box dimensions.
