U字形廊下は、2つの平行な廊下が短いスイッチバック部分で接続され、U字形（180度の方向変化）を形成します。アパートビル、ホテルスタイルのレイアウト、マルチユニットコンプレックスで一般的です。スイッチバックが最もきつい制約です。
